Haute Couture
The good folks at Somewhat.org have published a little story called Haute Couture. This one came from a shop display I recall from Barcelona, where manequins with dog heads were shown wearing the latest in fashion.
I classify this in the “odd little things that occasionally pop out between bigger stories” category; I wrote it in one draft, gave it little thought, going with the “first thought, best thought” philosophy of Jack Kerouac. (I’m usually in the “next thought, best thought” camp, working things over very slowly, worrying a scene to death for weeks, and always awfully disappointed with the end result, knowing that one more draft would make things better.)
I’m actually pretty happy with this one–it doesn’t say much, and is built on one image, but it’s fun and somewhat clever.
