The 2004 storySouth Million Writers nominations have been published, and my story “Sunshine Over Helsinki” has made the list. It’s quite an honor to be listed among the many great stories that were nominated, even if I come nowhere near cracking the top 10–it’s like being in the small print at the back of the O. Henry annual.

So take another look at “Helsinki,” and at all of the great stories in the list (I’ve got my reading for the next week cut out…). And remember to come back on March 1 to start voting for the best of the top 10; odds are “Helsinki” won’t be there, but rest assured that there will be some other good choices!
