Google Traffic Redux

Some more cullings from the traffic statistics

Recently, a handful of people searching for information on the Washburn Water Tower and its architect, Harry Wild Jones, have stumbled on this site–not surprisingly, I suppose, since I’ve put up eight pictures of it so far and no doubt have a few more to come.

People interested in this odd Minneapolis landmark may also find of interest a report on the March 7, 1950, Northwest Orient Airlines crash that left wreckage at the tower’s base, and this nice little essay by John Olson of Olson + Company Advertising.

Others have been occasionally misled here for “Dark Tower” pictures. Though I tend to title my Washburn Tower pictures after lines from Browning’s Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came, I offer no assistance for those looking for Stephen King stuff.

Cameras are the next big category of searches. People looking for Lubitel information seem to hang around longer than most, followed by Hawkeye Brownie, Spotmatic, FED, and Argus C3 searchers. If you’re in this category, thanks for visiting, and keep up the good fight–old cameras (especially those 120/620 beasts like the Lubi and Hawkeye) have a special charm that will never be replaced by digital, whatever Nikon and others may say.

Someone came here for Tennyson pictures. I have no Tennyson pictures; Julia Margaret Cameron did, though, and they’re wonderful. I wonder what Mrs. Cameron would have done with a Hawkeye?

Model train fans are brought here in seach of Choo Choo Bob’s, a new train store on Marshall Avenue in St. Paul. They don’t have a web site yet (though I’ve done my best to help their bottom line so they can afford one–we just got a new power pack for the boys’ train set, my 30-year-old one having finally bit the dust). But you can call them at (651) 646-5252, or drop by at 2050 Marshall Ave in St. Paul; directions here.

Finally, the most intriguing search result was for “aloha taylor weather”. This turned up a page where I made a flippant remark about being thankful that my name isn’t Aloha Taylor, WCCO’s morning weather personality. What interested me with this hit was that the originating IP was CBS’s New York City proxy server–are the corporate powers-that-be checking up on what’s said about Ms. Taylor? Are they looking to promote her to Chicago, or send her down to Omaha? We’ll keep an eye on this trend…
