I’m no kin to the monkey (no no no)
The monkey’s no kin to me (yeah yeah yeah)
I don’t know much about his ancestors, but mine didn’t swing from a tree.

The Monkey Song, a lovely little anti-evolution ditty made popular by Crystal Bernard and her sister Robyn

It may perhaps be considered a slander against the chimps more than the humans to suggest any sort of kinship; a little research into that snippet of doggerel, remembered from an anthropology course *mumble mumble* years ago, dredged up a lot of scary stuff. Maybe what seperates us from the apes is that the apes haven’t seen fit to air their ignorance on the Internet yet.

That big black smudge, incidentally, is a mark on the window in the monkey habitat to alert migratory birds to the fact that this isn’t open airspace.
