Christ Church - click to enlarge

Christ Church Lutheran in Minneapolis was designed by two Finnish architects of international renown: Eliel Saarinen designed the older half (pictured right), and Eero Saarinen, Eliel’s son, designed the newer half. Though clearly Modernist, the church has a levity and elegance unusual in starker post-war construction. It’s an architectural treasure hidden away in my quiet South Minneapolis neighborhood.
