Grand Marais Harbor
Artists’ Point, Grand Marais, Minnesota, on the shores of Lake Superior.
I’m working on a facelift for this site; I haven’t really touched it since Wordpress 1.5–2.6 is the current version–and the old theme had some limitations. I got a nice note from Phil Bebbington at terrorkitten, in response to a comment on one of his pictures, which noted that this site is less than navigable, and that was enough for me to make a change.
Right now, I’m fiddling with the Click! theme from Taly; it’s a very simple, clean theme, without a lot of bells and whistles; I use the more feature-rich Tarski theme for a couple of other projects, like Daily Dickinson, but I like the flexibility that a simple theme gives me for this site. There are still some bugs to squash and bolts to tighten –I’m having trouble with the Lightbox script– but so far, so good. If something doesn’t work for you, leave a comment!

I’m delighted with your work on the makeover! It is much gentler on bandwidth-challenged visitors from Africa like me.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! The old design was incredibly heavy, and the code makes me cringe. Now my interest is piqued in making it yet more efficient for the bandwidth-challenged; I know how to squeeze performance out of Java code, so I’m going to have to woodshed a little in PHP…
